The Minnesota chapter of the American Society for Information Science (ASIS) was founded in 1968, after a speech given locally by national ASIS president Robert S. Taylor spurred interested persons to hold an organizational meeting on March 19 of that year. The constitution and bylaws were drafted shortly after and a nominating committee was formed.
